Vakkaru Maldives has announced its festive programme for 2026, running from 13 December to 9 January and taking inspiration from the historic Silk Road. The programme spans Christmas, New Year and Orthodox Christmas, with themed dining, live entertainment, family activities, wellness experiences and excursions across the surrounding waters of Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
For centuries, the Silk Road connected communities across Asia, the Middle East and Europe through the trade of goods such as silk, tea and spices, alongside an exchange of ideas, cuisine and cultural traditions. This year’s programme takes inspiration from this history, with dining experiences, performances and activities reflecting influences from across these regions.
